Avo Banana Mousse, an oldie but a goodie!

I'm sure you’ve already heard (or tried) a recipe similar to this.  So I haven’t tried to reinvent, add a secret ingredient or pretend that it’s something that it’s not!

I’m also not pretending this tastes like a mousse you’d have in a restaurant, or one that uses cream and caster sugar.  But I will tell you that it's delish, the consistency is perfect, it is super chocolatey, easy to make, filling and satisfying!

Fun Fact - Cocoa was something you drank up until about 150 years ago.

Chocolate mousse was one of the first recipes I made when I started to experiment with lactose-free homemade desserts.  I think there is a place for all food but I really do love that an avocado and banana mixed with some honey and cocoa powder can make something so delicious. 

I also love that a 1 serving contains a serve of vegetables, ½ serve of fruit and fibre.

Call me crazy.. but I think that’s pretty awesome ;)

I really do love playing around with unprocessed and mostly wholefood ingredients and seeing what they can be turned into… and I think this mousse is the epitome of that.

Avocado & Banana Chocolate Mousse

  • Prep time: 5 – 10 minutes
  • Total time: 5 – 10 minutes
  • Serves: 2

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ medium bananas
  • 1 medium avocado
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (or liquid sweetener of choice)
  • pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until they reach a smooth consistency.

Store in the fridge.
